Animal Testing? Saving Us, Sacrifising Them?
Tuesday, August 3, 2010  Animal Testing Refers to the use of animals for scientific experiments. Usually done by universities, medical schools and phamaceutical companies. Most animals that are used for animal testing are not captured from the wild, but were breed for carefully just for this testing. Only a handful are captured from the while.Some testing are basic research behaviour studies and genetics. Testing includes drug testing, medical surgical procedures, medical equipments and now even cosmetics and other household products. Many groups of anti-animal testing feels that this is unjust for the animals as they have the right to live as do all of us humans. Animal testing has always been a hot debate in the 20th century. They also argued that sacrificing an animal for the sake of cosmetics is quite outrageous. They also said that being caged up in a lab might give these animal stress and thus accuracy of the tests. Many drugs being tested on animals react differently when a body is under stress. However, there are those who says that without animal testing , medical breakthroughs that we see and have today will not be present. Things like open-heart surgery, organ transplants, life saving drugs, cancer treatments and effective insulin wouldn't be available for us if it was not for animal testing. Vaccines for deadly diseases like polio, rabies, rubella and tuberculosis would also not be able to be produced. What do you think ? Should we sacrifice them in order to save us from deadly diseases ? Is human lifes more important that animals ? Or should we stop all this, for the sake of humanity?
